The Canadian group Arcade Fire has been sued by the now defunct American company Arcade On Fire , manufacturer of gaming machines in the 90s and now claims the patent of the name.
According to John Garfield , former manager of the company, the name was registered in 1995 in New Jersey and asks 25 million, curiously cosmetic damage. The amount apparently has been calculated, taking into account each liter of gasoline had to use to burn their machines.
When asked why he had not done before this demand, John Garfield, scornfully clarified that knows no Canadian music, only American, and therefore had not heard of the group.
Press conference, arcade ‘on fire’.
Garfield, in tone between jocular and angrily pointed out that Canadians do not know more than copying things American: “ yet believe that Toronto is New York, with its dwarf clone of Times Square and avenues, which do not reach the first … But if fat on purpose is to put, for the love of God! “
Asked whether these weeks and could have had time to hear some of the Canadian group, he replied: “ Yes, I would’ve put BGM in the bathroom “
Finally, he was told Canadian journalists angry that Arcade Fire was top 1 in the charts around the world, including the US charts. John replied: “You have to put a wall already, so this will not happen again!”
Arcade Fire, so far has not acted, although it is rumored that Win Butler, is already writing the song. Arcade fire on fire is his tribute to the mythical manufacturer of gaming machines company.
The case could be dismissed.
